Born at the end of a century in Aries season of the year of the rabbit at the tender age of zero, Marrow always knew they wanted to spend a lot of time on the computer...AND SO THEY DID!
Marrow's work focus primarily on the human condition and its absurdity, but they are intentional (if not heavy-handed) in the visibility of their personal aesthetic in their work. Their visual style centers around the use of hard and soft imagery to evoke an unsettling cuteness or a humorous approach to brutality. Recent visual arts projects, such as "object of affection" (2024) display idealized aesthetics over the backdrop of a much more complicated and distressing reality despite its sparkling embellishments. Older works such as "a deep simmering feeling" (2022) and "viscera" (2021) capture a candy-colored unease and themes of dysmorphia and depersonalization.
In their currently dormant noise project, CUERPO, Marrow seeks to unsettle the audience and create a visceral sense of fear and disgust through screeching waves of sound and frantic spoken word. Their most recent release, INSECTICIDE PERFUME, speaks to their experience with reconciling their hypersexuality with the abuse they experienced and the violent distressed caused by these incidents. Their upcoming release, which is still untitled, is a departure from the bitterness of their previous work and focuses instead on the internal physical sensations and nerves of sadomasochistic play.
